Celebration of Samantha by: Emily Crabtree, Samantha's High School Volleyball Coach
On the volleyball court, Sam was a determined athlete. She gave her all every time she stepped on the court. She wanted to win. She loved the game. She loved her teammates. She loved her coaches. We all know that because she told us every time she was with us. I'm gonna miss "Love ya coach" followed by a huge bear hug.
Every player and coach, who had the privilege to have her on their team, knows how special Sam was. Her positive attitude and passion for the game was incredible. She encouraged everyone to do their best. She led by example and her teammates and opponents had great respect for her on and off the court. Sam always had a smile on her face. She knew how to make us laugh. Man, did we have fun! Her "evil" eye, her clicking ankle during our runs, her famous walk, the bee sting on her butt.
As one of her former teammates said and I quote Brynne Kirsch "She didn't just make me a better volleyball player, she made me a better person." Sam, what a legacy you have left. What a difference you made in so many lives, definitely in mine, in your short life. You have made all of us better people. We love you and will never forget you!
