Remembrance of Samantha by: Allie Hott, Samantha's Friend
Twelve years ago you were beautiful - dancing inside to find Jack at day care, skipping in and out of rooms, searching up and down, curious and eager. Eight years ago you were beautiful - jumping on the trampoline, laughing with Jack until you couldn't laugh anymore. Four years ago you were beautiful - taking your first step into high school, ready to face every obstacle that came in your way, always running back to make sure Jack was okay. One week ago you were beautiful - your smile glistened throughout the night, dancing with the sweetest guy, knowing you, probably wishing Jack was there. Today you are beautiful - you are smiling, laughing, dancing and watching over your baby brother. Forever you are beautiful - your memory will always dance in every one of us.
As you can see, I've known Sam for as long as I can remember. We may have grown apart, but it feels like no time has passed. One thing that I've always known is that Sam had a lot of friends and cared deeply about everyone. I can honestly say that she has always had one best friend and that's her little brother, Jack. I have known the Kelly family since I was four, and trust me, there was never a dull moment. I will never forget their family picnics. Sam and Jack would play outside in the front yard until I would come outside, then we would go in the backyard and do Sam's favorite thing...we would eat. Sam and Jack had a unique relationship that I've always admired. As one of Jack's closest friends I know how much he loved her and misses her. But I can also see the strength in him and have faith that he will find better days. Her passing was tragic for everyone and the hardest part is not knowing why. But I know that Sam will continue to be here for all of us. She has touched so many lives and as family, friends and Wildcats we will continue to keep her legacy alive.
